In an in-depth interview with prominent journalist Ariel Helwani, Conor ‘The Notorious’ Mcgregor took the time to go through a range of issues that have been thrown his way during his training camp to face Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas, August 26th.
The most prominent of these in the past week have been the accusations of lying and misleading from former sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi, who left the McGregor training camp after having pictures of him on the canvas shared on social media.
The pictures seemed to indicate that McGregor had dropped the former world champion, something he vehemently denied, even when footage was shared by UFC boss Dana White. One side is claiming a knockdown, whilst the other claims a push, and the debate will rage on as it seems neither will agree on the version of events.
Clips of the Irishman seemingly dominating 44-fight veteran add weight to his chances against McGregor, even if only slightly. A retired ‘Magic Man’ whose last three defeats came by way of stoppage might not show he is capable enough to overcome Mayweather, with the best odds on McGregor showing at 9/2 on the Oddschecker website, but fans seeing the footage could be convinced it is competitive enough to shell out the money to watch it – or at least have a punt with a free bet.
