The non-stop barbs between streaking top-ranked lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov knows no bounds. “El Cucuy” took it one step further – shooting from the hip with the “Stalker Ex-Girlfriend” gem of a piece.

Per MMAJunkie Radio (h/t MMAMania):

“He’s telling me to go train and shut up? I’m like, ‘Man, you talk too much already, son. You talk too much. You are looking at me and you responded in like 2.2 minutes, son. You’re worse than a stalker ex-girlfriend. You’re looking at me like a hawk, an eagle and I want you to do that because you’re going to be stressing about what I’m going to do.”

However, it’s doubtful this latest jibe will ruffle the feathers of “The Eagle,” as he’s on a quest for 155-pound glory.

Initially, the thought was, Nurmagomedov, the No. 1 ranked lightweight in the world would face Conor McGregor for the title. That got nipped in the bud quite quickly as, “The Notorious” elected to take time out from the sport of MMA.

The only reasonable match-up to make from that point onwards, was #1 Nurmagomedov vs. #2 Ferguson to determine who would meet the Hibernian on his return.

After much stalling and failed negotiations, both parties eventually came to an agreement, and the fight is now tapped for UFC 209 – with an added incentive – interim lightweight title. Though, someone thinks it’s bullshit.

With streaks to die for, both combatants are feeling like champions. Ferguson, 32, leads the way – 9-0. Nurmagomedov, 28, who sports an 8-0 ledger isn’t far behind, and he’s undefeated to boot.

UFC 209 is schedule to kick off on Sat., Mar. 4, 207 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Nurmagomedov (24-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) and Ferguson (22-3 MMA, 12-1 UFC) will serve as the co-headliner, whilst the main eventers – welterweight king Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson will go at it for duel number two.
