Jadeveon Clowney is just one of those guys who generates a ton of controversy when you talk about him. Maybe it was his success in college or his status as a No. 1 overall pick and injury history, but people freak out when talking about Clowney.

They might be freaking out for different reasons this year, because Clowney looks freaking awesome for the Texans so far.

He produced a sack of Drew Brees after blasting pass right tackle Andrus Peat to get in the open field with Brees. Once that happens it’s over.

And that wasn’t Clowney’s most impressive play of the game either.

Clowney straight up destroyed Zach Strief on a bull rush earlier in the game (watch all his clips here) and got to Brees, but the play was nullified by a roughing the passer call.

The biggest concern for the Texans defense is J.J. Watt not being healthy to start the season. He’ll get back eventually but it might be on Clowney to help hold down the fort until he’s able to return.

Thus far in the preseason he’s looked capable of justifying the expectations.
