BALTIMORE — Chicago White Sox closer David Robertson will miss at least three games after being placed on the bereavement list before Thursday’s series opener against the Baltimore Orioles.

Robertson leads the AL with eight saves. He has an ERA of 0.87 with 13 strikeouts and a .152 (5-33) opponents’ batting average.

Chicago recalled infielder Carlos Sanchez from Triple-A Charlotte. Sanchez batted .224 with five homers, 31 RBIs and 40 runs scored in 120 games with the White Sox last season. He was first among AL rookies with 23 doubles.

Sanchez, 23, batted .309 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 20 games with Charlotte.

“They just told me they want me to play every day,” Sanchez said of rejoining the White Sox. “They don’t want to keep me here just to be on the bench. They want me to play every day to keep developing my game.”
